Roof cleaning in Liverpool

East and south Liverpool roofs split between Welsh slate on the Victorian villas and terraces and concrete tile on the endless 1930s avenues and post-war estates. The big parks and tree-lined roads keep plenty of those roofs in shade, and in the damp Mersey air a shaded tile grows moss all year round. Every roof gets a careful soft wash and a biocide treatment rather than a pressure washer, and we clear the gutters of the washed-down debris before we leave.

Roof cleaning across Liverpool

We keep pressure washers off Liverpool roofs altogether, treating and soft washing the tiles so the moss dies off without a single one being disturbed.

South Liverpool climbs a sandstone ridge from the Mersey up through Woolton and Childwall, and it is one of the greenest sides of the city, with Calderstones Park, Sefton Park and Childwall Woods pushing mature trees into nearly every avenue. All that canopy holds shade over roofs, gables and drives, and in the damp air off the Mersey a shaded surface barely dries between showers. Moss and algae feed on that standing damp, and all that street-tree shade means a south Liverpool roof or drive can stay green even through a dry spell.

Roof cleaning in Liverpool: your questions

Do you cover Liverpool?

Yes, Liverpool and the L12, L13, L16, L18, L19, L24, L25 postcodes is on our regular patch, about 20 minutes out from our base in Prescot.

How much does roof cleaning cost in Liverpool?

There is no set price list, because what you pay comes down to the pitch and size of the roof, how much moss has built up, and whether we can get a tower or ladders to it safely.

Do you jet wash roofs?

No. Blasting tiles with a pressure washer cracks them, strips the protective surface off concrete tiles and can push water up under the roof into the felt. We use hand scraping, soft washing and steam instead, and save the jet washing for driveways and patios.

What is soft washing?

Soft washing means applying a professional cleaning solution at low pressure to kill moss, algae and lichen at the root. It reaches the growth a scraper can’t, and it keeps working after we’ve left, so the roof carries on improving for weeks after the clean.
