Conservatory Roof Cleaning

Conservatory roof cleaning in Prescot and across Merseyside: glass and polycarbonate panels soft washed, frames wiped down and the roof gutters cleared so the room underneath gets its light back.

What we clean

Blastaway Pressure Washing Services cleans the whole conservatory roof, not just the bits you can reach from a step ladder. Across Prescot, Knowsley, St Helens and south Liverpool we take care of:

  • Glass roof panels
  • Polycarbonate roof sheets
  • Glazing bars, frames and flashing
  • Finials and ridge caps
  • The roof gutters, box gutters and valleys where moss and leaves gather

Conservatory roofs go downhill quietly. The green film creeps up the panels a little at a time, then one day the room feels gloomy even in the middle of summer. A wet Merseyside winter and a couple of overhanging trees will fill the channels with moss while algae spreads across the glass, and bird mess bakes onto the finials on top.

How we clean it

  1. Check the roof first. Glass and polycarbonate need different handling, so we work out which you have, how old it is and what it can safely take.
  2. Clear the debris by hand. Moss, twigs and leaf litter come out of the valleys and roof gutters before any water goes near the panels.
  3. Soft wash the panels. Low pressure and the right cleaning solution lift the algae and grime without scratching the surface or pushing water past the seals.
  4. Wash down the frames. Frames, glazing bars and finials are cleaned and rinsed, and the bird mess comes off with them.
  5. Rinse and check the drainage. Everything gets a final rinse and we make sure the roof gutters are running clear before we pack up.

Why a jet wash is the wrong tool here

Plenty of people around Prescot and St Helens search for conservatory jet washing, and the thinking makes sense: a pressure washer shifts a filthy driveway, so why not the conservatory? Because the roof can’t take it. High pressure can craze polycarbonate, scratch glass and drive water past the seals into the room below. Soft washing gets the same roof clean gently, kills the algae rather than just skimming it off, and leaves the seals alone. We save the jet washing for driveways and patios, where it belongs.

Conservatory cleaning FAQ

Straight answers to the things people ask us about conservatory cleaning around Prescot and Merseyside.

How much does conservatory roof cleaning cost?

It depends on the size of the conservatory, whether the roof is glass or polycarbonate, and how much moss and algae has taken hold.

Do you do conservatory roof cleaning near me?

We’re based in Prescot and cover Knowsley, St Helens, east and south Liverpool, Widnes and everywhere within roughly 15 miles. If you’re searching for conservatory cleaning near you anywhere in that patch, send us your postcode and we’ll confirm we cover it.

Can you clean both glass and polycarbonate roofs?

Yes, and we check which one you have before anything else, because they need handling differently. Glass can scratch and polycarbonate can craze if the wrong method is used, so both get a low-pressure soft wash with a solution matched to the panel, never a high-pressure jet.

Do you clean the frames and roof gutters as well as the panels?

The whole roof can be included: panels, glazing bars, frames, finials and the roof gutters and valleys where moss and leaves collect. Tell us what you want doing when you get in touch and we’ll build it into one fixed quote.

Why has my conservatory roof turned green?

The green film is algae. Merseyside gets plenty of wet weather off the Irish Sea, and shaded or north-facing roofs never fully dry out, which is exactly what algae likes. It spreads quickest where moss and leaf litter sit in the roof channels, so clearing those out is part of the job.

Will cleaning the roof cause a leak or damage the seals?

Done properly, no. The usual cause of leaks after a clean is someone blasting the roof with a pressure washer and forcing water past the rubber seals. We soft wash at low pressure instead, work panel by panel, and take care around the seals, glazing bars and flashing.

How often should a conservatory roof be cleaned?

Once a year suits most conservatories, ideally in autumn so the channels aren’t packed with moss and leaves all winter. Roofs under trees or on shaded, north-facing plots green up faster and may want doing more often.
