Gutter Cleaning

Blocked and overflowing gutters cleared by hand across Prescot, Knowsley and St Helens, with the downpipes checked as part of the job.

What we clear

Gutters fill up quicker than most people expect. Leaves from nearby trees, moss washed off the roof, grit from weathered tiles and wind-blown dirt all settle in the run, and the first you know about it is water sheeting over the edge in heavy rain. Blastaway Pressure Washing Services clears the lot:

  • Gutters packed with leaves, silt and roof grit
  • Moss, grass and weeds rooted into the run
  • Downpipes that are blocked or slow to drain
  • Corners and stop ends where debris always collects
  • Bungalows, two-storey houses, extensions and conservatories

We cover Prescot, Whiston, Rainhill, Huyton, St Helens, the east and south Liverpool suburbs and across to Widnes.

How we work

Before anything else we look at the height of the roofline and the access around the house, and pick the safest way to reach each run. The debris comes out by hand: lifted straight from the gutter and bagged up, not dumped on your borders or brushed onto the path.

Downpipes get the same attention. Each one is tested and flushed through with water, and any blockage is cleared so the rain actually leaves the gutter instead of backing up along it. Once the whole system is running we check the flow end to end and tidy up before we go.

Why it matters

Merseyside catches a lot of weather, and a blocked gutter turns every downpour into a soaking for the wall below it. Water spilling over the edge leaves green streaks down render and brickwork, pushes damp through into bedrooms and landings, and rots timber fascias from the back where you can’t see it. The weight of sodden silt also drags gutters off level and pulls joints apart, so a cheap clear left too long can turn into a repair bill.

Older terraces around Prescot and St Helens often share long gutter runs, so one blockage can back water up past your neighbours as well. Clearing it is quick work compared with fixing a damp wall, and far cheaper.

Gutter cleaning FAQ

Straight answers to the things people ask us about gutter cleaning around Prescot and Merseyside.

How much does gutter cleaning cost in Prescot?

It depends on the property: how many storeys, how long the gutter runs are, how packed they are and whether the downpipes need unblocking too. Give us your address and we’ll come back with a free fixed quote. The price is agreed before any work starts and it doesn’t change once we’re up there.

Do you do gutter cleaning near me?

We’re based in Prescot (L34/L35) and cover Knowsley, St Helens, the east and south Liverpool suburbs, Widnes and everywhere within roughly 15 miles. If you’re searching for gutter cleaning or gutter clearing near you anywhere around Merseyside, send us your postcode and we’ll confirm we cover it.

Do you unblock downpipes too?

Yes, every time. A cleared gutter is no use if the downpipe is still bunged up, because the water backs up along the run and spills over anyway. We test each downpipe, flush it through and clear whatever is stuck in it before we call the job done.

Can you remove grass and weeds growing out of my gutters?

Yes. Once a gutter holds a layer of wet silt, seeds land in it and take root, which is why you see grass and even small shrubs sprouting along rooflines around Prescot and St Helens. We pull the growth out roots and all, then clear the silt it was growing in so it doesn’t come straight back.

Why don’t you just jet wash the gutters out?

Because firing a pressure washer along a full gutter mostly sprays the muck up the wall and under the roof tiles. Gutters come cleanest when the debris is lifted out by hand and bagged up. We save the jet washing for driveways, patios and the surfaces built to take it.

How often should I have my gutters cleared?

Once a year suits most homes, ideally in late autumn after the leaves have come down. Houses under trees, or with mossy roofs shedding into the gutters, are better cleared twice a year. If yours are already overflowing, book it in sooner rather than later, because every wet week soaks the wall a bit more.
