Eccleston Park is one of the greenest corners of our patch, with mature avenue trees, high hedges and two golf courses pressing in on the Rainhill and St Helens sides. All that canopy holds moisture close to the houses, and in a damp Mersey basin climate the shaded slate, render and stone barely dries between showers from October through to spring. That is why moss and green algae come back here faster than on more open streets, and why regular treatment matters as much as the first clean.
